About
Montereau is a nonprofit continuing care retirement community set on a wooded, rolling hilltop in south Tulsa, combining upscale, resort-style living with a full continuum of care. The expansive campus features 306 apartments in an eight-story building plus 34 garden homes, with studio, one-, and two-bedroom residences, and offers a seamless path from independent living through higher levels of support as residents' needs change.
Care is organized into distinct neighborhoods: The Villa for assisted living, The Abbey for memory support with specialized Alzheimer's programming, and The Chateau for skilled nursing, backed by 24/7 nursing staff, an on-site physician, on-site pharmacy, and physical, occupational and speech therapies. Daily life is rich with amenities including multiple chef-prepared dining venues, a fitness center, swimming pool, therapeutic spa, beauty salon, walking trails, a meditation room, transportation, and an active calendar of programs and field trips.

Excellent — a consistently clean state inspection history — one of the strongest records in Oklahoma.
Based on Oklahoma state (OSDH) survey history — assisted living and memory care have no federal star rating.
1 inspection in the last two years · 1 with findings
Montereau's November 2025 inspection combined its regular relicensure survey with a complaint raising four concerns: medications not being available, not enough staff to answer call lights, inaccurate medical records, and medications not given per policy. Surveyors observed staffing, call light response and medication passes over two days, interviewed residents and staff, and reviewed records, policies and grievances — and none of those four allegations led to a citation. The visit was not entirely clean, though: inspectors cited the community after watching a cook in one of its two kitchens handle plates, bread bags and food without changing gloves or washing hands in between. Montereau retrained staff, set up ongoing kitchen observations reported to its quality committee, and the state confirmed in December 2025 that it was back in substantial compliance.
Summarized from Oklahoma State Department of Health survey documents. Inspections are a snapshot of specific days and sample a small number of residents.

Call me before you call them. Once you contact the community directly, they treat you as a walk-in — and I usually can't step in as your advocate anymore.
