About

Wellington Parke is a gated Christian retirement community in Del City, Oklahoma, marketed under the theme of 'worry-free Christian living.' Founded by Jim McWhirter - who says it was 'built for my mom, my loved ones, and yours' - the community's mission is 'to serve God by serving others,' delivering a caring Christian atmosphere alongside a high standard of excellence and respect for every resident. The secure, gated campus offers a full range of living options, from standalone independent cottages to assisted living suites and a cheerful, secure memory support neighborhood.

Residents enjoy one- and two-bedroom floor plans with spacious walk-in closets and individual climate control, backed by 24/7 trained and certified staff and interior and exterior maintenance. Dining is a highlight: The Bistro at Wellington Parke serves made-to-order, restaurant-style meals from menus approved by a licensed nutritionist and prepared by a head chef who placed among the top five in the Oklahoma Silver Spoon Culinary Competition. Multiple social spaces - card and billiards rooms, a theater room, and landscaped courtyards with patios - support fellowship, and a monthly calendar of purposeful activities, daily exercise classes, weekly outings, and on-site entertainment keeps residents engaged.

OSP RatingOSP GoodHow we rate: the OSP Rating is built from this community’s Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) survey history — weighing how recent, how frequent, and how serious the state’s inspection findings are. (Assisted living has no federal star rating, so we base it on the state’s public survey record.)

Gooda clean, solid state inspection record — better than most Oklahoma communities.

Based on Oklahoma state (OSDH) survey history — assisted living and memory care have no federal star rating.

What state inspectors found

1 inspection in the last two years · 1 with no deficiencies cited

Wellington Parke's most recent state inspection, on August 20-21, 2025, was clean — no deficiencies were cited at all, even though the surveyors were also investigating three complaints at the same time. All three complaints were checked and none held up: the surveyor found flooring repairs had been made and could not make themselves trip on it, found the community had adequate supervision and elopement prevention with staff educated on the procedures, and found the community in compliance on an abuse and neglect allegation. Residents interviewed had no complaints about the building or environment.

  • The August 2025 relicensure inspection, which also covered three separate complaints, came back completely clean — no deficiencies were cited. 08-21-2025
  • A complaint claimed the building was unsafe and in poor repair. The surveyor found flooring had been repaired throughout the center, and even tried on purpose to trip on it without success. 08-21-2025
  • Residents themselves told the surveyor they had no complaints about the flooring or the environment. 08-21-2025
  • A complaint alleged the community failed to prevent a resident from wandering off. After reviewing incident reports, the elopement policy, care plans and assessments, and interviewing families, staff and residents, the state found supervision and prevention were adequate. 08-21-2025

  • A complaint alleging abuse or neglect was investigated by observing how staff interacted with residents, checking residents' physical condition, and reviewing incident reports, staff training records and health charts. The state found the community in compliance. 08-21-2025

What the state also noted

  • Only one survey falls within the last 24 months, so this picture rests on a single inspection.
  • Three complaints were filed against the community and investigated in this period; none were substantiated, but families may want to ask the community about them directly.
  • The investigation sampled 10 of the 55 residents in the building at the time, so it is a snapshot rather than a review of every resident's care.

Summarized from Oklahoma State Department of Health survey documents. Inspections are a snapshot of specific days and sample a small number of residents.
